Hey Marty!
I miss you so much!!
Thanks for being the best boss ever this summer
on DC. I wish you the best of luck with law
school...I know you'll make a great attorney.
And I must agree that your page is making me
slack off on all my work.....if I don't
graduate bc I looked at your website when I
should have been doing work, I'll be calling
you to start paying off my loans! Thanks for a
great summer. Miss you!

Much love,
Christie

Elated, fortunate, amazingly lucky, happier
than a powerball lotto winner...that's what I
would feel if you considered me one of your
loved ones. You pay homage to your friends and
family in such an eloquent manner that I am
envious that I have only known you for such a
brief period of time. You are the epitome of a
sexy, smart, funny, and loyal chicano (and did I
mention sexy - those lips and eyes are to die for).
By the way, Yudiann's webpage gave me an
interesting view of you. Your thoughts section
would not load, but she has some of your
ramblings written. I must agree with her, that
last one about the girl of your dreams - sigh.
If you were here, well... ;)

Hey Marty! This is Aida, Yudiann's bagel friend
from Robinson. :)
Every now and then I check your webpage to see
what Yudiann is up to. I was really shocked to
see what both of you had been going through the
last couple of weeks. You are all in my
thoughts and prayers.

Hello Marty. You don't know me, but I was a
high school friend of your sister Veronica. We
were in drill team together and actually we met
in Jr. High. I just wanted to share some
thoughts about her with you and your family.
First and foremost my sympathy, prayers, and
love are with you and your family. Vero, as we
would call her because there were 4 Veronicas
in drill-team, was indeed a special person.

I read your thoughts about her recent death and
was touched. Attending her funeral was
difficult for all of her high school friends
because even though 10 years had elapsed and
time had taken all of us in different
directions, the friendship and love she had
shared with so many people transcended time.
Her friendship was so special that it didn't
matter how much time had passed, when we would
see her in town or at a special occasion we
picked up where we had left off. Upon
reflection of the funeral service, my best
friend Veronica Salinas (another Sergeanette)
said, I felt like we were in the
movie "Remember the Titans" and I couldn't
agree more. There we were all except one,
Vero, one of us was missing. What we were not
even able to accomplish for our 10 year class
reunion,Vero's spirit and life brought us all
together. There we sat occupying one pew, with
our former director, Mrs. Longoria, sitting at
the end. And it wasn't just the Sergeanettes
that were present, it was classmates from all
walks of life. Vero had the ability to touch
and connect with everyone she met. She was
always willing to help and always trying to
find ways to rally us all together, motivate
the team, or speak the word of God. Vero
always remained strong in her faith even when
in high school it might not have been cool.
She was never afraid to tell anyone how much
Jesus loved us. She was a forgiving person. I
know that the pain you and your family
experience is great and we join you in the
sorrow of your loss. I know that the masses of
people who joined you in this time of grief
serves as a testament to the great life your
sister lead and I hope this provides you and
your family some solace . (cont.)

Her life, love,
friendship, and spirit were so monumental that
it transcended time for us, and I know that it
will last a lifetime for her friends and loved
ones. What we grieve is that she will no
longer be able to touch other lives as she has
ours. Even though this is painful for us, I am
happy for having had the opportunity of
partaking in Vero’s life. I can confidently
say that all of her former classmates feel the
same way. So, despite our sadness, her spirit
was definitely among us during the service and
I could hear her comforting us, as she always
did. I could see her smiling radiantly telling
us that everything was going to be okay. Her
aura and memory were so strong; it felt like it
was just yesterday that we were all in the
dressing room, getting ready for a big game.
Thus, we all joined together to celebrate her
life and honor her memory. We love Vero and
will miss her greatly. Please know that we
(the Sergeanettes) will always be here for her
daughters whenever they need us. They can
contact me at vcast16 @yahoo.com if they want
to hear about the Vero we all came to know and
love in school. God bless you and yours.

Sincerely,
Veronica (Roni) Castro
